Presenting
The people behind the craft
Meet the artisans who shape our story – one rug at a time.
At Studio TUNIQ, every piece begins with a pair of hands and a lifetime of stories. Behind each handmade rug is a creator, a family, and a tradition. This page is dedicated to the people who make our collections possible – the women and men in Tunisia who preserve, adapt, and pass on the art of weaving

Cherifa – Empowering Women Through Weaving
Le Kef, Tunisia
Cherifa ( the woman in the middle of the photo ) is a self-taught rug weaver who lives in the small town of Lekef in northern Tunisia. When she noticed that many women over 40 in her region had never learned a trade but still needed to earn an income, she decided to take action. She began teaching herself the craft of rug weaving, and soon after, started training other women in her community. Today, Cherifa leads a small network of female artisans who weave with skill, pride, and purpose – creating not only rugs, but sustainable livelihoods.
“Weaving has become a way for women here to support themselves – to build something with their own hands.”

Leila – Tradition Meets Technique
Le Kef, Tunisia
We met Leila at that very same fair in Tunis – a chance encounter that felt meant to be. Trained as a certified weaver, Leila brings technical expertise and artistic vision to every piece she creates. Like Cherifa, she lives in Le Kef and works with a group of women who weave rugs by hand in her workshop. Leila’s deep knowledge of materials and color combinations is helping us develop a new chapter of the Studio TUNIQ collection.
