Our Story – The Heart Behind Studio TUNIQ
Studio TUNIQ was born from a friendship across cultures and a shared desire to make a difference. It all started in the Netherlands, where Maud, a Dutch creative, met Mehdi, a Tunisian entrepreneur. Mehdi’s wife is Dutch—she and Maud are friends—and through that connection, two worlds began to intertwine.
When Maud attended their wedding in Tunisia, she was struck by the beauty and depth of Tunisian culture. The colors, the textures, the incredible craftsmanship of the rugs—it made a lasting impression. At the same time, Mehdi had long felt a calling to contribute something meaningful to his homeland. He was looking for a way to uplift the people and traditions he cared so deeply about.
Over late-night talks and shared dreams, the idea began to take shape: what if we could bring these exceptional handmade pieces to a global stage—and make sure the artisans, especially the women, are supported and fairly paid?
That’s how Studio TUNIQ came to life: born from friendship, built on purpose, and powered by the art of human hands.

We work directly with these makers to ensure they earn fair wages, gain access to international markets, and receive the recognition their work deserves. Our mission is simple: revive the beauty of handmade, high-quality, and unique products by connecting skilled Tunisian artisans with homes around the world.
